Our Yoga Classes
Hatha Yoga Class:
This class is ideal for the student who has just completed our Foundation yoga 6-week course to continue building confidence or if you have never practiced yoga before.
Our hatha yoga classes offer basic poses with the emphasis on stretching, basic pranayama (breathing exercises) and perhaps a seated meditation. These classes are a good place to work on your alignment, learn relaxation techniques and become familiar with a yoga practice while building strength and flexibility.
Iyenger Style Class:
This Iyengar style class is suitable for all levels of experience as options are given and students are encouraged to move slowly towards their best position. There is a high degree of attention paid to alignment and adjustments may be made by the teacher with students permission. Poses are sometimes held longer than students might be used to in other classes. There is an emphasis on movement, but then learning how to calmly abide in the body.
Classes usually include inverted poses e.g. headstand and shoulder stand however foundation poses are given as a first step and inversion is only done when the student feels ready.
Mindful fusion yoga class:
Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner this class maybe just what you are looking for.
Classic hatha yoga and *somatic processes are entwined during this class. The pace of this class is generally slower than others cultivating an infusion of breath, strength, flexibility with harmonious relaxation.
Classes are about getting to know “YOU” on a deep and personal level and delivered with a strong emphasis of mindfulness that will take you beyond your external physical form to the inner landscape of your essential being, what it is like to be in your body and to love and nurture yourself.
Our bodies withhold all the information we would ever seek to know of our innate self and what is right for us in any given moment in time if we slow down and listen deeply.
Every movement practiced with attention and intention exposes us to an invitation to rediscover our bodies uniqueness in ways that are not predetermined by experience.
There are no advanced or pretzel like poses given in these classes, only time to unravel stress and tension and reveal the treasure of mysteries that lie within you.
*A simple somatics definition: “the body experienced from within”
Yoga for pregnancy and birth is a truly wonderful experience – it relaxes, strengthens, and rejuvenates you physically, mentally and emotionally. It assists you to feel more comfortable in your pregnancy and helps prepare your body, mind and heart for birthing and beyond. Classes are held Fridays 6 – 7:30pm and follow school terms.
Bookings for Casual ‘Drop in’ and Class Pass holders are essential.
Classes include physical postures/movements (asana), relaxation, meditation, visualisation and breathing practices, all designed specifically to support you throughout your pregnancy, birth and post-partum. Emphasis is placed on listening to your body, being present with yourself and working with your limits. Classes encourage you to connect with your baby and the changes in your body, and are also a great opportunity to meet other pregnant women.
Our Prenatal classes cater for beginners as well as experienced yoga students. We recommend you start classes any time from 12 weeks of pregnancy.
First time attendance, please arrive early to discuss any questions or concerns.
