FAQ's

How long does the class go for?

Class Duration

** Yoga Ongoing Class 70 minutes
** Somatic Course 2.5hrs
** Foundation Course 60-80 minutes
** Relax & Rejuvenate Class 2hrs

What ongoing weekly class should I attend?

If you are new to yoga it is best to start with our Beginner Ongoing Class so familiarize yourself with the basic postures before moving onto an experienced class. Experienced doesn’t mean you will be doing extreme poses but that you do have an understanding of them as the class flows more freely than a beginner class

Do I need to attend a Foundation Yoga Course before coming to Ongoing Classes?

While we recommend you start with one of our foundation courses we understand that they may not fit into your time frame and so if it isn’t possible then we encourage you to commence with our ongoing Yoga Classes.

When do your classes run and where?

We offer morning and evening classes with over 12 ongoing classes to choose from running continuously all year except for Public Holidays and between Christmas and New Year.

All classes are held at the Breathings Space, Unit 2 841 North East Road, Valley View. (Above Ray White Real Estate and next door to Plaza Holden Motors).

Classes can be attended on a casual ‘drop in’ basis or by purchasing a Class Pass to suit your needs offering savings on casual class fees.

What should I wear to class?

  • Wear comfortable loose fitting or stretchy clothing allowing free breath and body movement.
  • Layers of clothing in cooler months will allow you to regulate your own body temperature. It is advisable to wear socks during relaxation in the cooler months.
  • Yoga is practiced in bare feet, so slip on shoes for ease of removal and putting back on are ideal
  • Long hair is best tied back to avoid distraction during class

Can I eat before class?

It is best to practice on an empty stomach so allow at least 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours after a meal before class. If for medical reasons you need to eat before class choose something light.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Our Studio is equipped with all the props needed for both yoga and pilates however if you have your own mat please bring it with you. When using our mats we do ask at the end of the session that you wipe it over with the spray provided to maintain our high standard of cleanliness. We also suggest that you bring a towel or shawl to
cover over the blanket / bolster when ever your face is making contact with either.

Eye pillows are also available for use during relaxation (shavasana). Please use a tissue to act as a barrier between your eyes and the pillow for health reasons.

The studio offers filtered drinking water, tissues and hand sanitiser for your convenience.

We do not sell non-slip sticky mats at the studio but they can be purchased from local retail Stores or by purchasing from Yoga supply companies such as EMP / I Yoga Props or Yoga King

What is the difference between Yoga and Pilates?

At first glance it may seem that yoga and Pilates are very similar. Joseph Pilates shows that he studied the body and mind connection but there is no spiritual focus. The emphasis is on controlled, precise movements executed with complete focus.

Yoga is at least 5,000 years old and is steeped in ancient Indian culture. Besides challenging our physical ability in asana (poses), yoga uses other techniques such as pranayama (breathing), chanting, visualization and meditation to balance all aspects of our lives. muscles his techniques developed.

Yoga’s focus is on uniting the body, mind and spirit to bring about harmony and well-being. Yoga has many physical benefits such as improved flexibility, strength and balance and muscle tone. Yoga also works at a much deeper level, stimulating digestion, circulation, respiration and hormonal balance to name a few. It is mentally and emotionally restorative and can help manage or prevent serious illness such as osteoporosis and diabetes.
